Bio
Isis Mussenden is an internationally acclaimed costume designer whose work spans film and television across genres, periods, and scale. Most recently, she designed the feature films The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (2025) and The Accountant 2 (2025), as well as the Paramount+ limited series Lawmen: Bass Reeves (2023), starring David Oyelowo.
Mussenden is widely recognized for her work on The Chronicles of Narnia trilogy - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - earning BAFTA and Costume Designers Guild nominations and winning both Saturn and CDG Awards. Her expansive body of work includes On the Basis of Sex, Velvet Buzzsaw, The Wolverine, Thirteen Days, American Psycho, The Astronaut's Wife, Drag Me to Hell, and the animated classics Shrek, Shrek 2, and Puss in Boots.
In television, she designed two seasons of Showtime's Masters of Sex, garnering a Costume Designers Guild nomination, along with numerous long-form projects across networks and studios.
Mussenden began her career at Joseph Papp's New York Shakespeare Festival, designing extensively for the theater before transitioning to film. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design and studied studio art at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
A native of Los Angeles, she grew up bilingual and speaks Spanish. Her work is distinguished by its emotional depth, narrative clarity, and ability to define character through silhouette, texture, and scale.
